Norwell

The town of Norwell is a suburban community 20 miles south of Boston. Incorporated in 1888, it retains much of its past rural character. Bounded by the North River, Norwell attracted settlers for its agricultural land and its water power potential. They built grist & sawmills on the river as well as boatyards. In the 1800s, shipbuilding was a major industry and in the 1950s, Norwell had a huge building boom which nearly doubled the town’s population, bringing diversity to the town. More than 10,000 people now call Norwell home.
